These “About” pages kind of freak me out...

I MEAN, HOW DO YOU PUT A LIFE INTO AN ABOUT PAGE SO YOU CAN GET A SENSE OF SOMEONE? SO I’LL GIVE YOU A LIST DOWN BELOW, BUT FIRST, I’LL GIVE THIS A SHOT. HOO BOY.

NOT SO LONG AGO, I WAS DISCONNECTED FROM MY BODY, MIND AND SPIRIT.

I was a new mom and I was struggling. Struggling to figure out who I was, where I was, what I was doing in the chaos that is new motherhood.

I was lost. SOMETHING WASN’T RIGHT. So I bought some running shoes. And when my partner would come home, I would literally run out the door. Slowly, my body came into the mix. After joining a bootcamp, my insides AND my outsides started to feel stronger and stronger. With that strength, came a calming of my mental waters. The stronger I got in my body, the more my mental chatter began to quiet.

Then, I’m not kidding, I could hear myself. And I know that the Divine — God—Universe —All— Whole—Everything or whatever you want to call it was talking to me. Really clearly. No joke…I found God in a burpee.

SO HERE’S WHAT I KNOW NOW: YOUR BODY, MIND AND SPIRIT CONNECTION IS THE KEY TO WELLNESS.

Bringing them all into alignment is what invites health and balance. You can’t ignore your body – your body is part of you. It is what animates you – it’s how you sense, feel and move. It’s a HUGE part of the chain. You can’t ignore your mind – getting in touch with your inner voice that leads and guides you is really important. It’s what helps you ascertain and move through your life with purpose. You can’t ignore your spirit – it’s lovely to think a lot, but feeling is important too. And finding a way to get connected with the ALL in a way that makes sense and feels right to you is really important.

BODY. MIND. SPIRIT.

I take a holistic approach to wellness looking at all aspects of a human. You. Beautiful you.

Because here’s the deal – you’re a gift. A gift put here on this Earth to do amazing things. In yoga we call this your dharma. Sometimes, life beats us up a bit, but still under it all…you are unbroken, shining and meant to serve the world with your gifts.

Here’s what I want you to know: I’ve been where you are and I see you. I understand SO MUCH. So let’s help you reclaim your Self.

One thing I know for sure - you are your own best teacher. You are your own best guide. But sometimes it’s hard to hear ourselves. It’s hard to remember. It feels like we lost our way, ourselves, our direction somehow.

If you’re ready to remember who you are – to get strong on the inside and outside, peaceful and focused again – let me know. There are so many ways to connect - come to a class, workshop, schedule me to speak to your group, read or watch any of the information here, or schedule a one-on-one with me to get your own plan. Let’s connect and let’s get you connected.

MY MISSION STATEMENT

I will serve each person with my highest intention meeting them are where they are physically, emotionally and spiritually.

My heart’s deepest yearning is to recognize and honor the full humanity of anyone I work with. I recognize that there are cultural, social and economic barriers that have made some health and wellness spaces unwelcoming to people of color, people of size, people in the LGBTQIA community and people of varying abilities. Part of my journey as a person and as an instructor is learning how I can do more to open the spaces where I work to everyone.

I will strive to help each person connect with their beautiful selves. I will join people on their paths to celebrate health, wellness, and body-mind-spirit connection.

It is my personal responsibility to make individual reparations* to people of color. If you are a person of color and would like to train with me or have a one on one SomaYoga session, please accept a 50% discount when you schedule with me. If you don’t feel like you would want this discount for yourself, please choose an organization, non-profit, or underwrite someone you know for a session and I will remit payment/services.

*What reparations are NOT. If you are reading this as that I am assuming people of color cannot afford my services and that I’m offering charity, you are missing my intent. Reparations are a recognition that for 400 years this country has oppressed and marginalized people of color. I am doing my small part to offer reparations in my corner of the world. If you would like to learn more, I urge you to read more about this in the articles linked below.

GIVING BACK

My yoga practice started with Swami Muktananda and Siddha Yoga when I was 9 years old. I am forever grateful to the teachings of Baba Muktananda and Gurumayi Chidvilasananda who I admired and looked up to as a child in India. A portion of my business is offered as dakshina to Baba & Gurumayi. In addition, I support the philanthropic work of the SYDA Foundation through their Prasad Project., the Muktabodha Indological Research Institute, and the Prison Project.

My yoga practice continued with Swami Rama of the Himalayan tradition now guided by the spiritual head of the Himalayan Institute, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, PhD. These teachings were provided through Yoga North. A portion of my business supports the philanthropic work of the Himalayan Institute.

In addition, I support the following people with a percentage of my business every month or with a donation. I highly recommend you follow them, learn from them and pay them for their labor:
