Whole 30 – Part Deux

The older I get (I’m 44) the more I want to be healthy. I don’t care so much about the looking good in a bikini (I try and keep those little devilish thoughts at bay), but I’d really like to be WELL. All the time.

Not just some of the time.

All of the time.

And I felt like that when I did the Whole 30. Whole Foods – fresh veggies, fruits and good meat and fish and GOOD fats for 30 days. No sugar, no dairy, no sugar or sugar substitutes, no legumes, no alcohol, no grains, no soy, no processed foods of any kind.

The first time – it was just me. Now my husband has joined me on the journey. In the last month we’ve learned A LOT about how much we like to feel good, cook and eat well together, and just how freaking good it feels.

I also learned that wine is not my friend. Wine (any alcohol really) semi-nightly is not my friend. It makes me bloated and ‘inflamed.’ Also – in the simplest terms (I’m not a scientist) the liver is one of your greatest metabolic engines. And when your liver is taxed, you are simply not burning fat at optimum. You can be eating super clean and exercising, but still be overweight if you’re taxing your liver by drinking alcohol. Among other things alcohol does…leaky gut, inflammation etc...

So I’m on Day #2 – Want to join me?

Everything you need to know is at Whole9life.com. And my favorite cookbook INTHEWORLD is Well Fed, but you can find many, many of her recipes on her blog theclothesmakethegirl.com.
